Outdoor Activities
Gang Warily has a wide range of outdoor activities to suit all tastes, such as golf, tennis, fishing and much more. At the centre we have two third generation five a-side pitches, two eleven a-side pitches and a junior football pitch. To complement these pitches we also have a nine hole pitch and putt golf course and a multi sports court which is used for such sports as netball, tennis and hockey.
Nine Hole Pitch & Putt
Here at Gang Warily we have a 9 hole Pitch and Putt golf course which is open all year round. It is suitable for adults and children. Our yardage ranges from 70 to 111yards. Equipment is available for hire.
Five A-Side Football
Our unique third generation synthetic pitches, installed in April 2007, are designed to provide an artificial surface with a natural feel. Whether it’s a training session or a competitive game, our floodlit pitches are ideal for a variety of sports. The rubber crumb base acts as a shock absorber making it the perfect surface for short sharp turning and sliding whilst minimising risk of injury.
Eleven A-Side Football
We have a range of pitches for hire at Gang Warily and our sister venue the QE2 Recreation Ground.
At Gang Warily we have two adult and one junior eleven a-side football pitches. At the QE2 Recreation Ground we have three adult pitches and a mini pitch for hire. These pitches are renowned for having the best drainage in the local area, our award winning grounds men work very hard all year round to ensure they are kept to a very high standard. Both the QE2 and Gang Warily pitches are available for hire during the football season, September through to April. Prices vary depending on the size of pitch required and age of players.
There are ample changing facilities at QE2 for teams and officials. However, at Gang Warily we have limited facilities so please mention when booking if changing rooms are required.
Fishing
We have two lakes available for fishing.
- Gang Warily pond, this is a very good fishing pond with a wide range of fish, it is said there is a 21lb carp in there. If you catch this monster carp then take a picture so we can put it on our web page.
- Holbury Manor Lakes, this is a horse shoe shaped lake. It is a very sheltered lake by lots of trees and is a very relaxing place to fish
*You have to get a fishing permit from Gang Warily to fish in both lakes
As from March 2010 our youth and community worker Debbie Elliott will be running a fishing club for all the youth who would like to do a spot of fishing and do not have any equipment.
Cricket
Our cricket square has recently reopened at the QE2 recreation ground it is available to hire from June through to September.
